Set in a converted cluster of fisherman’s houses along Portree Harbor the hotel offers plenty of character and quirks. There are 17 bedrooms with attached bathroom with all expected facilities.

The restaurant offers a sumptuous and soul satisfying lamb dish.
The property has a charm that only a heritage property can provide.

The property is beautiful in what feels like the middle of nowhere. The weather was wonderful for our 3 nights stay. We were up late with the amount of sunlight we had and enjoyed beautiful sunsets walking about the property.
On average, 3-star hotels in Portree cost $234 per night, and 4-star hotels in Portree are $318 per night. If you're looking for something really special, a 5-star hotel in Portree can be found for $301 per night, on average (based on Booking.com prices).
A location for myths, legends and beautiful nature.
A location for myths, legends and beautiful nature.
Things to see and do:
1. Plunge your face in the water under Sligachan Bridge for a faerie blessing.
2. Hike up to the old man of Storr.
3. Go to the top of the Bride Veil's Falls and drink a sip for good luck.
4. Visit Talisker (Book months in advance for a distillery tour), but the visitor shop is worthwhile regardless - you can engrave a bottle or draw your own bottle from a cask yourself without a tour.
We spent more time in the surrounding areas than the actual town itself, special sites and nature. The town itself is good for a night or two, but I'd focus my efforts on the landscape of Skye instead of the inside of the shops of Skye.
Be sure to factor in opening times for certain restaurants. Most places have a "no booking" policy, so you can expect to stand in line when wanting to eat out at the recommended places.
Spots to eat that we tried:
- The Lower Deck Seafood (Queue 30min before opening time) located on the harbour side.
- The Isles Inn (Walk-in 30min before you're hungry) with live music almost every night around 21:00ish.
Spots for great coffee:
Talisker - just outside they have Caora Dhubh Coffee Company. Worth the coffee itself if you're after the best cup of coffee in Skye.

Portree is lovely.
Portree is lovely. We visited in early may and the crowds were mostly manageable. I would be a little concerned in the heart of the season. My suggestion to the powers that be would be to consider shuttle busses to the popular sites from centralized collection points; discourage rental cars from driving to the sites independently in some way. The small roads and on-site car parks can become overly crowded. We couldn't get near Quiraing for the traffic on the winding one lane road. In all other respects, Skye and Portree are lovely and a pleasure to visit.

I only spent one night in Portree so my judgement is limited. Even before the tourist season started, it was quite crowded. I can’t imagine what it must be like at the height of the season. Skye is lovely but expensive compared to other locations in Scotland.

Skyelight Apartment is at a great location, very near to Portree town centre, maybe 1-minute walk. Nicely furnished, warm and cozy. Note though there is no washing machine. Otherwise, a wonderful accommodation.
Everything! Beautiful bungalow with immaculately furnished and clean rooms (ours had a separate personal toilet and shower across corridor, but no problem at all as directly opposite and complimentary bath robe was provided!). The host couple were lovely people and so helpful with tips on places to visit and a fantastic local knowledge. The breakfasts were amazing - especially the smoked salmon & scrambled eggs which would grace any 5 star London hotel! Portree harbour a pleasant walk of only 20 minutes.
We stayed here for one night while we traveled Skye. The hotel was perfect for what we needed and the location was right in the square of Portree. Although they don’t have parking there is a long stay car park minutes walk from the hotel and it’s only £4 for 24hrs.
We decided to have dinner at the hotel and it was incredible!! The food, presentation and value for money was spot on. The staff were also extremely attentive and helpful.
The house is a complete dream - even better than on the photos! There's a lovely living room area overlooking the water, with the Old Man of Storr being visible on a clear day. The hosts are lovely, the rooms are super clean, and the bathroom is like in a 5 star hotel. Breakfast was one of our favourites during our Scotland travels! The B&B is a few mins by car to Portree, and 15-20 to the car park near Storr. Would love to come back.
We had a week long trip around Scotland and our two nights/days in Skye where definitely the highlight. The pods were just perfect: very clean, spacious and cozy, it was evident that the owners paid attention to every inch of them.
The location was great: the pods are located near Portree (10 mins), but in the fields to properly enjoy the peace of the island.
10/10 would recommend, I hope we’ll be able to visit again.
House on the Falls was the perfect peaceful place to retreat to the Isle of Skye. Donna was a wonderful host! We loved that it was a short drive to Portree, a 20-30 minute drive from most points of interest all over the island, a lovely walk along the falls directly behind the house, a cozy atmosphere in the rooms and shared spaces, with a delicious breakfasts delivered to your door, and sheep & horses to befriend!
We loved everything about this hotel! The room was gorgeous, had a warm and cozy atmosphere and had the most beautiful view. The breakfast was amazing each morning! The staff were so personable and always made us feel welcome. This was our favorite stay in Scotland for the 3 weeks that we traveled. We will definitely stay here again when we come back to the Isle of Skye and will recommend to all! Thank you!
Fantastic location, centrally located in the town of Portree and a great location to visit the points of interest all over the Isle of Skye. Nice to have the Nespresso machine. Thanks to our host to promptly responding to our questions. The host provided a detailed guide to the area prior to arriving which was very informative and helpful
Trotternish B&B was the highlight of our B&B experiences in Scotland. Beautiful scenery, lovely & spacious rooms, welcoming and charming hosts, truly amazing food and service. Couldn’t ask for a better place to stay on the Isle of Skye. Thank you for making this such a great stay for all of us!!
House was spacious warm and very comfortable. So well equipped and clean. Location 5 minutes from Portree Centre
Absolutely beautiful Loch on the doorstep-
Best restaurant in Skye is the Cuillin Hills Hotel with great views of the loch and is within walking distance from the house
Room was spacious, quiet, very clean, with a very nice, comfortable bed. Good-working smart TV, Breakfast was fabulous and we were grateful for getting it in the room, until 10:00 am. Staff were great too. All in all a very nice experience in a hotel in a quiet location in Portree.
The hotel is a bit out of Portree but, it is well worth the 10 minute drive to stay here. The grounds are beautiful, the food was wonderful and the staff was incredible. We could not have asked for a more peaceful and welcoming experience.
Location was great with access to all parts of northern Skye and quick trips into Portree. Wonderful views of the harbour and quiet (little to no road noise despite being close the the main road into Portree).
I loved that it was centrally located in Portree. I loved that I could make a res for supper and breakfast. The food was phenomenal and the staff was welcoming and kind. The entire hotel was beautiful!
The hotel is in the heart of Portree.
Staff it’s been amazing and also the room, clean and comfy.
We had everything we need, if you are around Isle of Skye I would really recommend this place!
Great hotel 10mins walk from the centre of Portree. Comfortable and fairly modern room considering it is Skye. The room is quite small, but absolutely fine for a night or two.
The location of the hotel was superb....probably the best in Portree. It was also close to restaurants and a small supermarket. The staff were very pleasant and helpful
